LEAGUES

We provide a place for children and adults with disabilities to play baseball and have a good time while feeling God's love.

The Michael League

Jacob League

Ryan and Homer League

The Michael League is for our athletes that require the most assistance to play the game of baseball. The age range for this league is from 4 through adult. We try to have plenty of volunteers to do whatever is needed to help our athletes enjoy the game.
Usually, these athletes are able to play the game with minimal assistance.It was set up for athletes, typically younger than 12 years old, that do not feel comfortable, or are alot smaller that the athletes in the other leagues.They may move up to the Ryan, or homer league as they grow.
These athletes are usually older and require less assistance to play the game. The Homer League is our most advanced league. The action on this field is usually faster paced and may not be suited for all. The Ryan league is usually a bit slower in its action.

Events

Here is a schedule for Special Needs Baseball of New Bern North Carolina. Game days are always on Saturdays and scheduled to start at 9:30 am. The games will be played at Creekside Park Near the airport in James City.You may scroll through the months in the upper left hand corner of the callendar.If you click on the game day you will be able to find out more information about that day such as the church or group that will be helping, even directions to the park. It would be great if more than one church or group wanted to help out on the same day. If a game day has no church/group name on it, then that day is open. Contact us if you would like to help.

1821 Old Airport Road, New Bern, NC, 29562From 70 East/New BernOnce you have entered James City, turn right at the second stop light onto Airport Road (before Riverside Chrysler Dodge). Go .4 mile and turn left onto Old Airport Road. The park will be .6 mile on the right.From 70 West/HavelockTurn left onto Grantham Road (before Marine Federal Credit Union). At the end of Grantham Road, turn right onto Old Airport Road. The park will be .2 mile on the left.

We try to show the love of Jesus through an ordinary game of baseball.

In 2003, after hearing God's call in our lives, we started Special Needs Baseball. We promised God that we would be here to do what we could as long as HE would provide the athletes, place to play, finances, and the volunteers. With our first game only a few weeks away and only 3 athletes, God provided thirty participants at our first game. God provided 140 athletes in our seventh year. He has kept up His end of things. He has also supplied us with a wonderful support staff of parents, family members, area churches, and community members. In 2010, we were able to work with some wonderful people from Jacksonville, N.C. and help them start a Fall League down there. They did an awesome job and God blessed the efforts they put forth. We thank God for them!

We try to get a different area churches or organizations involved in supporting the athletes and providing food after each game. Sometimes, two small organizations will team up together and help. We try to give good estimates on how many to prepare for. The ball fields are close to a Food Lion, so you can always go to the store if needed. We also try to keep some cash on hand for such emergencies.On the field, we need as much help that we can get. We have up to four ball fields going at one time, with each one having different amounts of help needed. We also have bleachers that need a rowdy crowd cheering the players on. On the back of the athletes shirt will be his or her name, so you can cheer for them!
Plan on taking your time. Our games will start at 9:30am and usually last about an hour. By the time we get done eating and cleaning up, it may be 1:30pm. We spend the time showing God's love through our fellowship and our service. We can not be in a hurry. Someone may want to know about this Jesus we keep talking about.
Although we will not turn down your money, that is not what we are after. We want your church, or christian organization, to send volunteers and provide refreshments after the game.We do not accept money for advertisement. The only names on our shirts are the first names of our athletes. We were told in 2003 that this would not work, but God has seen us through.

The Registration fee is $10.00 and is non-refundable. Make checks out to Special Needs Baseball or Arapahoe FWB Church if you want a tax deduction. Participants will receive a team t-shirt and hat.

Tentative game days are April 23rd and 30th, every Saturday in May, and June 11th. All games start at 9:30 at Creekside Park in James City, New Bern.
